ABOUT

HVS Almiron - 2023 colt foal by Emerald  Van't Ruytershof ex Mermus R

A powerful & athletic colt foal by the globally in demand auction topping show jumping sire Emerald who show jumped at the Rio Olympics with Harry Smolders for the Dutch Team and had a phenomenal career jumping at 1.60m.  Emerald was foaled in 2004 and is not getting any younger!.

Breeders value Emerald for his scope, carefulness, balance, confirmation, intelligence and outstanding personality. As a six year old Emerald was Reserve Champion at the World Championships for young horses.

Aswell as his Olympic appearance Emerald was 2nd in the World Cup Final in Gothenburg and has accrued many International Grand Prix victories. In 2018 he was the WINNER of the Grand Prix in Bordeaux and the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) in Cannes. Emerald can also take acclaim for being second in the World Cup Team final in Paris and the LGCT in Doha aswell as being tthird in the Rolex Grand Prix in s'Hertogenbosch.

Emerald Van't Ruyt has taken the world of International Show Jumping breeding by storm in that he is consistenly an auction topping sire of both foals and embryos in auctions in Europe and in the Middle East.  Whilst he is an Olympian himself it as a sire of foals and embryos at auction which has made his popularity just immense. Emerald is without one of most commerial sons of the late stallion Diamant De Semilly.

In the 2022 World Breeding Federation for Show Jumping Sires Rankings Diamant De Semilly stood at number 2 just behind Chacco Blue and his son Emerald was ranked number 12 sire of show jumpers in the world.

Emerald is the sire of 93 offspring jumping in classes between 1.50m and 1.70m and so it is no surprise that his International Show Jumping offspring are so highly prized !.

By bringing Diamant De Semilly to this colt foal's sire line it makes this foal as equally attractive to both International Show Jumping and International Eventing.  Diamant De Semilly is the sire of Tokyo Olympic Gold Medallist Toledo De Kerser ridden by Team GBR rider Tom McEwen and the pair are also Pau CCI5* winners. Diamant De Semilly also happens to be the grandsire of Tom's 2nd placed 2023 Kentucky CCI5* ride JL Dublin who is by Diamant De Semilly's son Diarado.  JL Dublin was FEI European Eventing Individual Gold Medallist and Team Gold Medallist for Team GBR with Nicola Wilson at Avences in Switzerland in 2021.

Emerald's dam's sire Carthago-Z show jumped himself  at both the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics and is still today considered to be one of founding sires of so many Grand Prix Show Jumpers; he is the sire of 73 licensed stallion sons.  When Carthago-Z passed away there was much bitterness that the Holsteiner stud book would not support his cloning.

Event Horse buyers should take note that Carthago-Z appears in the breeding of current FEI Eventing World Champion Banzai Du Loir who can also take credit for being second at Kentucky CCI5.

This colt's dam Rossa Lough Hill was bred in Ireland and her breeding will be of great demand to International Eventers as her dam's sire is Mermus R who is the sire of Richard Coney's 9th placed Pau CCI5* ride Mermus R Diamonds.

The irish stallion Cruising who is on the dam line of Rossa Lough Cruise Hill was a successful 1.60m Grand Prix Show Jumper and had Grand Prix WINS placings and appearances in Nations Cup Teams including, the Grand Prix – Aachen The greatest Grand Prix in the world (1999), Dortmund (1999), Lucerne (1998), San Marino (1996) and Wolfsburg (1996).and he has gone on to have a very impressive 104 offspring show jumping in classes from 1.40m through to 1.70m.

In International Eventing it is Cruising's sire Sea Crest has had a phenomenal impact on the sport.  Sea Crest is the sire of Caroline Powell's (NZ) 2010 Burghley Winner Lenamore and Sea Crest also appears in the breeding of Tom Jackson's 2nd placed Burghley CCI5* ride Capels Hollow Drift in 2022 and 5th at Badminton in 2023.

This colt foal has 47.73% TB Blood which would make him as equally suitabel to a career in International Eventing as his sire's career of Olympic Show Jumping.

This foal is based in the UK and represents a rare chance to buy am Emerald foal in the (rather than Europe) in 2023.  The sale of this foal is not subject to VAT and will remain with the breeder in England until weaning.
